Welcome to TLC
TLC invites you to pursue God's presence with us.
1. WE PURSUE GOD'S PRESENCE AND SET ASIDE TIME EACH DAY TO IMMERSE OURSELVES IN HIM
-We slow down our pace in order to be with Jesus, and this is the source from which our activity flows.
-We set aside time each day to immerse ourselves in Scripture, silence, and solitude, which are foundational practices for communion with Jesus. Our doing for God flows out of our being with God.
-We consistently embrace other spiritual practices, such as Sabbath-keeping and discernment, in order to cultivate our personal relationship with Jesus and avoid living off of the spirituality of others.
-We remain profoundly aware that, apart from abiding in Jesus, it is impossible to bear lasting fruit—as individuals and as a community.

2. WE DON'T PRETEND TO BE SOMETHING ON THE OUTSIDE THAT WE AREN'T ON THE INSIDE
-We are intentional about living out of vulnerability and brokenness.
-We endeavor to be the same person on stage in public as we are off stage in private.
-We recognize that our first and most difficult task is to lead
ourselves so that our work for God is nourished by a deep inner life with God.
-This ensures that their leadership is not driven by other motives, such as the need for power, approval from others, or success as the world defines + measures it.
-We seek to create an environment in which people are encouraged to ask questions and give helpful feedback.
-We also enjoy the freedom to say a healthy “no” as we discern God’s will and set appropriate limits.

3. WE PRACTICE BENEATH THE SURFACE DISCIPLESHIP
- We grow in self-awareness because we cannot change that of which we remain unaware.
- We understand that maturity results when we engage in the slow, hard work of following the crucified Jesus.
- We choose to break free from unhealthy or destructive patterns in our families and culture of origin, and choose to live differently in the new family of Jesus.
- We understand that our past impacts our present, and we are intentional about identifying and facing their beneath-the-surface issues (e.g. a sinful tendencies, unresolved wounds, triggers).
- We apply the gospel of grace and the truth of Scripture to every area of life, meeting Jesus in their losses and limits and learning how to love other people as Jesus did.
- We understand we need to die to the less obvious sins—such as defensiveness, detachment from others, and a lack of vulnerability—as well as the more obvious sins, such as lying or coveting.
- We also pursue the healthy desires God places in our hearts and celebrate God’s good gifts, such as beauty, nature, laughter, music, and friendships.

4. WE HONOR ABOVE AND BESIDE
-We are governed by honor. We honor God’s authority over us, His people, and humble ourselves under His wisdom, sovereignty and love.
- We also honor those He places in authority in the church. We recognize God’s hand and His anointing on those who have been given gifts to govern His body in God’s wisdom and love so that the church can grow
up into maturity and holiness.
-We honor the gifts in each other that the Holy Spirit distributes among us
and realize that honor produces freedom, creates safe places and reflects a Kingdom identity.

5. WE LOVE LIKE JESUS
- We are committed to learning tools and practices in order to love others like Jesus.
- We do relationships as Jesus did. This includes how to speak clearly, respectfully, and honestly; how to listen; and how to clarify expectations and confronting and negotiating conflicts in a healthy, honorable way.
- We respect individual viewpoints, choices, and spiritual journeys, allowing each one to take responsibility for his or her own life without blaming or shaming.
- We share and connect with each other out of our weaknesses and vulnerabilities, we offer a gift of God’s grace to one another and to the world.
- We differentiate between “using” people and “loving” people by monitoring the movements of their hearts and treating others as unrepeatable and valuable beings made in the image of God.

6. WE PURSUE HOLY MARRIAGES, FAMILIES, AND SINGLENESS
- We model God’s passionate love for the world by living out of our marriages or singleness.
- We live out a vision of love that is passionate, intimate, free, and life giving, recognizing our oneness with Christ is closely connected to our oneness with our spouses (for married people) or to our close community (for single people).
- We talk openly about sexuality, recognizing the intimate relationship between Christ and his church is to be reflected in the sexual relationship between a husband and wife, (specifically a man and a woman) as ordained by God in the beginning.
- We also reflect our relationship with God in the holiness and chastity of those who are single.
- We honor God as Father and Christ’s Lordship in our homes. We obey His Biblical guidelines and pursue peace and righteousness in raising and training our children, with the help of the Holy Spirit, in the love and conviction of the Lord.

7. WE BELIEVE EVERY PERSON IS IN FULL TIME MINISTRY
-We commission every believer to walk in the authority of Jesus at work and in daily life.
- We refuse to compartmentalize work and spirituality, viewing work as an act of worship that brings order out of chaos and builds God’s kingdom.
- We practice Jesus’ presence and engage in the work of making disciples at our work and in our daily lives.
- We are active in naming and combating language, attitudes, and behaviors resulting from such evils as racism, classism, sexism, and any other ideology that demeans human beings.

OUR MISSION
The mission of TLC is the same mission Jesus gave His followers: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. TLC is a house gathered around creating a resting place for God's presence. This is a place where people can meet and have authentic encounters with Jesus, engage in life-giving community, and minister to God.
