DAY 9 OF 14 DAYS OF PRAYER AND FASTING

✨ Devotional: The Power of His Name – Our Banner of Victory
Scripture Focus
“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run into it and are safe.” – Proverbs 18:10
“Moses built an altar and called its name The Lord is my Banner (Jehovah-Nissi).” – Exodus 17:15
1️⃣ His Name Brings Presence
When we speak or sing the name of the Lord, His presence fills our space (Psalm 22:3). Just as the disciples experienced a rushing wind in the upper room (Acts 2:1-4), calling on Him draws His nearness. He is not far from those who seek Him.
Pause and whisper His name — invite Him into your room, your thoughts, your work.
2️⃣ His Name Releases Deliverance & Victory
From the Red Sea to the prison cells of Paul and Silas (Acts 16:25-26), calling on God’s name has loosed chains and shifted circumstances. David ran toward Goliath declaring, “I come to you in the name of the Lord” (1 Sam. 17:45).
Jehovah-Nissi means “The Lord is my Banner.” In battle, a banner signified the side you belonged to and the victory you fought under. God’s own name is lifted over us as our standard of triumph.
Ask: Where do I need His banner of victory today?
3️⃣ His Name Gives Safety and Peace
Proverbs 18:10 calls His name a strong tower; Numbers 6:24-26 links His name with blessing and shalom. When Jesus spoke “Peace be with you” (John 20:19), fear dissolved. As we call on Him, His name settles storms — external and internal (Psalm 107:28-30).
Speak His name into areas of turmoil and let His calm rule there.
4️⃣ His Name Grants Authority & Freedom
Jesus said, “In My name… they will cast out demons… lay hands on the sick, and they will recover” (Mark 16:17-18). Darkness retreats where His name is honored (Luke 10:17). You carry the authority of heaven when you pray, minister, or bless in Jesus’ name.
Pray boldly for freedom — for yourself, your family, your community.
5️⃣ His Name Invites Forgiveness and New Life
Calling on His name washes and renews (Acts 22:16; 1 Cor. 6:11). When we repent and believe, His name writes a new identity over us: beloved, clean, chosen.
Thank Him for the cleansing written over you because of His name.
6️⃣ His Name Inspires Joy, Courage, and Community
When believers lifted their voices in Acts 4:31, the room shook and they were filled with boldness. Declaring His name stirs faith in those around us. Gratitude and gladness overflow as we remember His deeds (Psalm 105:1-3).
Consider sharing today how His name has steadied or strengthened you.
?️ Closing Reflection
Jehovah-Nissi — The Lord our Banner — waves His victory over every circumstance.
Calling on His name is not just speaking syllables; it’s aligning our hearts, our surroundings, and our battles under His covering.
Take a few quiet moments to:
Call on His name aloud — “Jesus,” “Lord,” “Jehovah-Nissi.”
Picture His banner over your life, your home, your church, your city.
Rest in His presence, strength, and peace.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for giving us Your name — a name of safety, deliverance, peace, authority, forgiveness, joy, and victory.
Teach us to lift You high as our banner, trusting that as we call on You, Your presence surrounds us and Your purposes prevail.
Amen.
