Sacred Week Devotional Handbook

SACRED WEEK DEVOTIONAL HANDBOOK
October 13 - 19, 2025

WHAT IS SACRED WEEK?
A Week of Dedication, Devotion and Offerings
Joel 1:14 NKJV
Consecrate a fast, call a sacred assembly; gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God and cry out to the LORD.

SACRED WEEK is a corporate and personal call to separate ourselves unto God for a time of dedication and prayer and fasting to seek His face. It is humbling ourselves before God in repentance and devotion.

It is a time to:
“Break up the hard ground” of our hearts before God.
Repent of all sins and return to God wholeheartedly.
Renew commitments made to the Lord.
Wait on God to hear from Him and take heed to what He says.
Resolve to obey and please God alone.
Forgive and mend relationships.
Bring an offering to the Lord.

WHEN IS SACRED WEEK?
SACRED WEEK will be October 13th through October 19th, 2025.  Monday through Saturday of Sacred Week is a time of personal prayer and fasting, and personal preparation before our SACRED SUNDAY service on October 19th.

Like the Levitical priests who carefully prepared themselves before they entered the Tabernacle to minister to God, it is important that we take time to prayerfully prepare ourselves to come before God’s presence in the spirit and posture of heart that is pleasing to God. Record all that God will be speaking to you throughout this season of prayer and fasting on the pages provided in this booklet.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR SACRED WEEK?
Plan ahead to make the most of your time. Read over this entire handbook before starting Sacred Week; planning to include each day’s devotional and activities into your week.
Most importantly, plan your week’s schedule to include times for corporate and personal fasting and prayer.
Personal daily prayer time: _______________
Corporate Prayer:  Thursday 7:00pm - 8:00pm

SACRED WEEK DAILY DEVOTIONAL:

DAY 1: Personal preparation
Psalm 51:1–19
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
Prepare your heart to come before God in humility.

Allow the Holy Spirit to do a deep searching of your heart and life and bring everything to light and let nothing be hidden.

Pray through Psalm 51. Repent and ask God to forgive you, cleanse your heart, and renew a right spirit within you.

Ask God to open the eyes of your understanding; remove all unbelief, hardness, pride and resistance to His Holy Spirit. Ask God to put truth and wisdom in your inward parts. Ask the Lord to judge your motives and repent of wrong and selfish motives. Proverbs 16:2, Proverbs 21:2, Psalm 26:2

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any bitterness or resentment toward others and make a choice to forgive.

Take steps to make relationships right with others this week, especially those in the house of God.

Ephesians 4:31-32-Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. 32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

Matthew 5:23-25 - Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar, and go your way. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift.

DAY 2 & 3: Prepare as a family
Joshua 24:14–15
Now, therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD!…But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Psalm 133
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is
For brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious oil upon the head,
Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron,
Running down on the edge of his garments.
It is like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion;
For there the LORD commanded the blessing— Life forevermore.

Heads of families: Help prepare your family and share the personal application of Sacred Week to every person in your household.

Minister unity and oneness; bring healing and reconciliation to all relationships in your family, repent of sins committed against each other, and minister love and forgiveness toward one another.

Married couples: read 1 Peter 3:1–7 and Colossians 3:18–19.
Parents and children: read Colossians 3:20–21.

Have a family communion time to seal the oneness of spirit, love and peace; pray Psalm 133 and Colossians 3 into your family.

DAY 4: Spiritual house-cleansing
Exodus 20:4-6 - You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Galatians 5:19-21 - Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

2 Chronicles 34: 3,8, 27 - For in the eighth year of his (Josiah’s) reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images…vs. 8 in the eighteenth year of his reign…he sent Shaphan…to repair the house of the LORD…vs. 27 because your heart was tender…and you humbled yourself before Me…I also have heard you, says the LORD.

As Christians, our commitment to God begins in our hearts and in our homes.  In a believer's home, there should not be any other religious object or sign from a false religion such as  Buddhism, Hinduism, Native American religions, or even African ancestral objects. Any type of souvenir or object that is linked to a pagan religion or a pagan God is not honoring to the Lord.

The second category of items that you need to get rid of in your house is any demonic symbols. This can be on paintings, on clothes or on jewelry. For example, anything with the inverted pentagram or the goat, or the all-seeing Illuminati eye or the leviathan. A lot of these things are rooted in satanism and the occult.

The third category of things and items that you need to get rid of in your house is any occultic or new age objects. Things like astrology, fortune card readings, terror cards, crystals, Ouija boards, and even good luck charms.

Leviticus 19:31 - Give no regard to mediums and familiar spirits. to be defiled by them. I am the Lord, your God.

Some may view these things as light entertainment, but Christians should have wisdom. We don’t operate in superstition or luck. We look to God's Word and His promises. Things like divination, seeing what will happen in the future, all these things are evil and nature and forbidden by the word of God.  God may reveal things to you as you pray. He may reveal things to you through dreams, but that's different. That is God Himself talking to you and confirming things through His Word and through other believers.

Lastly, rid yourself of anything that is sinful, or tempting you to sin or may even glorify a sinful season in your life.  (2 Corinthians 5:17)
1.  Do a spiritual house-cleaning (2 Chronicles 34:1–37).
2.  If there is any item in your possession that contains spiritually-defiling material and is not pleasing to God, get rid of it. Or if you want to bring it to Sunday Sacred Service you can lay those things at the altar and give them to the Lord.  These things defile us and our homes and become gateways for the enemy to infiltrate.
3. Repair your personal and family altar. (Your personal daily encounters with God, prayer and the Word and your family prayer time)

DAY 5: Prepare an offering to bring to the Lord for our Sacred Service.
Giving to God in offerings is an important part of our relationship with Him. All throughout the Bible, offerings were given to bless the Lord and confirm the people’s commitment to honor Him. Practicing generosity to the Lord affirms God as our master and helps assure that money doesn’t become something we serve instead of the Lord.

Matthew 6:24 - Jesus said, No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.

The tithe is first and 10% of our giving. It is God’s and not ours.  The Bible says it is holy, which means it cannot be used for ordinary purposes, but should be given to God’s kingdom and set apart for Him. (Leviticus 27:30, Matthew 6:33)

Meanwhile, offerings have no set amount. Everyone can decide how much to give with each offering, as mentioned in the Bible.

Deuteronomy 16:17 - “Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that He has given you.”

Ezra the prophet called for a Solemn Assembly after the return of the captives from Babylon and asked for the nation to repent of their sin of intermarrying women from false religions. During the assembly, they brought an offering to God to confirm their repentance. Each man offered a ram from his flock as a sacrifice for his offense. (Ezra 10:19) The fruit of generosity to God of our treasures is always evident in true sincere repentance.

1.  Go before the Lord, asking Him what He would have you bring.
2.  Your gift may be monetary or an item of value to you.  Anything that would be considered a treasure to you is an acceptable offering to the Lord.
3.   Encourage your children to participate in giving to the Lord.

Day 6: Rejoice in God’s goodness
Take a day to proclaim God’s goodness and God’s faithfulness.

Philippians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!

1.  In your prayer time today give praise to the Lord.
2.  Think on the things He has done in your life and give thanks to
     Him.
2.  Set aside some time to worship Him in song.

Day 7: SACRED SUNDAY - Sunday, October 19, 2025 10:00am

Let’s gather together for a time of worship, rededication, commitment and bringing of our offerings to the Lord.

WHAT IS FASTING AND PRAYER?
Fasting and prayer are spiritual ministries that God responds to. In fasting, abstinence from food (and other things) is an outward demonstration of an inward heart of contrition and repentance towards God. It is a spiritual act of humbling and emptying ourselves before God in submission to His Lordship. Fasting crucifies our flesh and self, enthrones God, and brings us into total submission to Him. We deny all that is of ourselves—our will, needs, appetites, desires, priorities, and motives—to embrace all that is His. There are different ways to fast. Let the Lord lead you at all times.

We fast from:
Food (depending on God’s direction).
Time (setting aside time to pray and wait on God).
Priorities (denying personal agendas to make seeking Him our first priority).
Pleasures (abstaining from things we enjoy to devote that time and energy to God).

HOW DO WE FAST?
We are to fast as the Holy Spirit leads us. Let God show you what He is dealing with in your life. All fasting must be accompanied with prayer. There are three different ways we can fast:
Partial fast–abstain from certain meals or reduce normal portion sizes (no snacking to make up for meals).
Total fast–abstain from solid foods and consume only liquids (if you have a health condition, consult with your doctor first).
Daniel fast–abstain from specific types of foods, beverages and/or pleasures (e.g. internet, social media, television, entertainment, sports, recreation, shopping, etc.).

HOW DO WE WAIT ON GOD?
Plan and set aside a specific time and place to wait on God each day of the Sacred Week (remove all distractions).

Waiting is an act of submission that crucifies the flesh and lets God be God. Allow Him to thoroughly search you, so that nothing is hidden. Consciously tune your heart and spirit to hear Him and be sensitive to His voice. God will draw near and reveal Himself to you.
Praying brings revelation of things that we need to address, and allows the Holy Spirit to illuminate our hearts. Remember to take notes of all that God speaks to you.
